City of Thomson

The Thomson Depot is the headquarters for the Thomson-McDuffie Tourism, Convention, and Visitors' Bureau. The Belle Meade Hunt, one of the most well known fox-hunting clubs in America, makes Thomson its home. The hunt officially begins with the blessing of the hounds on the first Saturday of November.

According to 2000 Census, the City of Thomson had a population of 6,828 persons. Between 1990 and 2000, the city experienced a population decrease of -0.5%, compared to the state growth during this period of 26.4%.
